Stoewer R200 Spezial - German family of multi-wheel-drive vehicles for military use
In 1934, the Office of the Army approved plan of standardization and unification of military vehicles, according to which for the Wehrmacht was supposed creation of a family of standardized all-wheel drive passenger cars "Einheits-Personenkraftwagen".
In 1936, the company located in Stettin "Shtover" developed and introduced SUV Stoewer R180 Spezial (equipped with an engine capacity of 42 hp), the production of which continued in 1936 - 1938 years. In the future, the SUV Stoewer R200 Spezial (equipped with a new 50 hp engine) was developed, the production of which continued in 1938-1940. The latest model series was Stoewer R200 Spezial Typ 40 - from the lightweight body, which increased the load capacity of the machine from 425 to 500 kg.
Manufacture of machinery besides "Stoewer-Werke AG" was mastered at the car "Hanomag"
and BMW (under the name Hanomag 20B and the BMW 325).
In 1943, the German military and political leadership decided to reduce the
nomenclature of produced military vehicles and the production of an off-road
vehicle was discontinued.
